Write for us
We welcome thoughtful pitches about county landscapes and rural life, especially pieces that help a general reader notice or understand something specific. Send proposals through the Contact page, with a short description of the idea and why it suits Local County Journal.
What we welcome
We are interested in clear explanations, comparisons, historical context and observant pieces about fields, paths, village settings and seasonal change. A strong proposal has a distinct subject, a useful point for readers and a scope that can be handled accurately without pretending that one place speaks for all.
A useful pitch
Tell us the working title, the central idea, the category it might fit and the main points you would cover. Mention any sources or visual material you expect to use, and disclose relevant commercial interests. A pitch is enough at first; please do not send a complete article unless invited.
Voice and care
Write plainly and specifically. Avoid unsupported claims, invented local colour and advice that depends on rules or circumstances readers must check elsewhere. We value distinct, well-shaped ideas over grand claims about the countryside, and reserve the right to edit accepted work for clarity and length.
The countryside rewards a closer look
A familiar lane can change with the light, the crop and the season. We pay attention to those shifts and to the lasting marks people and land leave on one another.
